Evert Taube

FÃ¶rfattaren, kompositÃ¶ren och konstnÃ¤ren Axel Evert Taube fÃ¶ddes den 12 mars 1890 i Keillerska huset i GÃ¶teborg, men vÃ¤xte upp pÃ¥ fyrmÃ¤stargÃ¥rden pÃ¥ Ã¶n Vinga. Son till Karl Gunnar Taube och Julia Sofia Jakobsdotter. Evert Taube avled 31 januari 1976 i Stockholm.

Evert skriver i boken Jag kommer av ett brusandÂ´ hav om sin fÃ¶delse pÃ¥ Badhusgatan i GÃ¶teborg (officiellt Vinga, StyrsÃ¶ sn):

"Vid min ankomst till jÃ¤mmerdalen onsdagen den 12 mars 1890 kl 5 fm ansags jag vara dÃ¶dfÃ¶dd och lades undan. Men nÃ¤r doktor Petter SilfverskiÃ¶ld skulle konstatera dÃ¶dsfallet nÃ¶jde han sig inte dÃ¤rmed utan satte liv i mig."

SlÃ¤kten Taube

Evert Taubes slÃ¤ktgren och fÃ¶rfÃ¤der delade vapenskÃ¶ld och medeltida rÃ¶tter i Danmark och Baltikum med den "svenska" slÃ¤kten Taube, och de andra, i sveriges historia vÃ¤lkÃ¤nda Evert Taube; greven, Ã¶veramiralen (och farfadern till romerska riksgrevinnan Hedvig Taube) och drottning Christinas gunstling Fredrik Taube (1648-1703), och Gustav IIIs gunstling Evert Wilhelm Taube (1737-1799) .

Dessa Evert Taube var avlÃ¤gsna slÃ¤ktingar, men tillhÃ¶rde egentligen inte Evert Axels fÃ¶rfÃ¤der, vilka kom till sverige fÃ¶rst i bÃ¶rjan av 1800-talet frÃ¥n Finland, dÃ¤r de tjÃ¤nat svenska kronan i Ã¶ver hundra Ã¥r.

Everts farfar Otto Reinhold Taube flyttade frÃ¥n Haparanda till GÃ¶teborg, och Everts far Carl Gunnar Taube blev fyrmÃ¤stare i BohuslÃ¤n efter att ha arbetat som sjÃ¶kapten. Han gifte sig 1884 i Kungshamn med Julia Sofia Jacobsdotter, dotter till kronolots Jacob Olsson i StrÃ¶mstad. Julias brÃ¶der var ocksÃ¥ fyrmÃ¤stare.

Vinga

Barndomen tillbringade Evert pÃ¥ Vinga Ã¶ och hans uppvÃ¤xt prÃ¤glades av fartyg, fiske, sjÃ¶manslivet och historier om frÃ¤mmande lÃ¤nder och hamnar. Evert var redan som liten flitig brevskrivare. PÃ¥ Vinga Ã¶ bodde fyra andra familjer, och Ã¶ns 10 barn hade ett eget skolhus. Egentligen gick man inte i skolan mer Ã¤n cirka sex mÃ¥nader, men med en sÃ¥ liten klass blev utbildningen grundlig. HÃ¤r gick Evert i skola tills han blev 13.

Ã…r 1904-1905 studerade Evert vid MalmÃ¶ Borgarskola varvid han bodde hos hos farbror Axel Taube och tog sÃ¤kert intryck av Axels son Mattias Taube som var konstnÃ¤r. (Mattias blev sedemera skÃ¥despelare och far till skÃ¥despelerskan Aino Taube)

GÃ¶teborg

1905 befordrades Everts far till Ã¶verlots och familjen flyttade till Taubehuset vid Kustens Varv i GÃ¶teborg och den konstintresserade Evert skrevs in vid LatinlÃ¤roverket, men efter att ha fÃ¥tt underkÃ¤nt i matematik bÃ¶rjade han gÃ¥ i lÃ¤ra fÃ¶r teatermÃ¥lare Jens Christian AndrÃ©sen pÃ¥ Stora Teatern i GÃ¶teborg. PÃ¥ kvÃ¤llarna tog han kvÃ¤llslektioner fÃ¶r Carl Wilhemsson pÃ¥ Valands mÃ¥larskola. Men han vantrivdes och Ã¤ventyrslustan tog Ã¶ver...

Stockholm

16 Ã¥r gammal lÃ¥nade Evert 18 kronor av sin pianolÃ¤rare farbror Svensson, packade en vÃ¤ska med klÃ¤der, bÃ¶cker, fÃ¤rglÃ¥dor, och tvÃ¥ smÃ¶rgÃ¥sar, och rymde med nattÃ¥get till Stockholm fÃ¶r att bli konstnÃ¤r.

Stockholm blev fÃ¶r Evert mycket friluftsliv, fÃ¶r han mÃ¥ste ibland Ã¶vernatta i naturen nÃ¤r kassan var klen. Oftast boddde han nog dock hos kusinen och konstnÃ¤ren Mattias Taube, och Evert lyckades publicera teckingar i Dagens Nyheter och Stockholms Dagblad och etablera kontakter med konstnÃ¤rer som Olof Thunman. Avsikten var att bÃ¶rja pÃ¥ Konstakademien, men fÃ¶r detta behÃ¶vdes rekommendationer. Han trÃ¤ffade bl.a. prins Eugen pÃ¥ Valdemarsudde och baron Gustaf CederstrÃ¶m, direktÃ¶r fÃ¶r Konstakademien, vilken beviljade honom intrÃ¤de. PÃ¥ Nationalmuseum ser han Astri Bergman fÃ¶r fÃ¶rsta gÃ¥ngen, hon Ã¤r dÃ¥ nio Ã¥r, han 17.14 Ã¥r senare fÃ¶rlovade de sig i Florens.

Till sjÃ¶ss

Men under nyÃ¥ret 1907 tvingade Everts far honom till ett val: antingen att studera pÃ¥ internatskola eller att gÃ¥ till sjÃ¶ss. Den nu 18-Ã¥rige Evert valde att mÃ¶nstra pÃ¥ atlantkryssaren S/S Australic av GÃ¶teborg som koleldare, och efter att ha rundat Goda Hoppasudden tvÃ¥ gÃ¥nger upplever han Sydafrika och Ceylon och pÃ¥ tillbakavÃ¤gen RÃ¶da havet och Suezkanalen. Falskt anklagad blir han av kapten Hultgren polisanmÃ¤ld, men rymmer i North Shields i England, och gÃ¶mmer sig hos Mary Strand. Med falsk sjÃ¶mansbok utstÃ¤llt pÃ¥ jungman Alfred Jensen blev han jungman pÃ¥ andra fartyg.

Men 1909 var han tillbaka i Sverige.

Argentina

Efter att ha tillbringat sommaren utstÃ¤llningsÃ¥ret 1909 i Stockholm och vintern i London var Evert pank och mÃ¶nstrade tillsammans med Karl-Alfred och Fritiof Andersson pÃ¥ hjulÃ¥ngaren Princess of Wales och Evert tillbringade sedan fem Ã¥r i Argentina. Han arbetade som assistent vid byggandet av bevattningskanalerna, beriden adjutant hos Presidenten i Argentina, spÃ¥rvagnskonduktÃ¶r i Cordoba, tecknare och jornalist, blev argentinsk medborgare, lÃ¤rde sig spanska och italienska, lÃ¤rde sig spela gitarr och sjunga tangomelodier.

I Stockholm igen 1915-1917

I samband med kriget for Evert till Sverige 1915, och flyttade snart till Stockholm. Han blev elev fÃ¶r Albert EngstrÃ¶m, och var under en tid fÃ¶rlovad med hans dotter Malin EngstrÃ¶m, han gjorde vÃ¤rnplikten i flottan 1916-1917 och hemfÃ¶rlovades frÃ¥n militÃ¤ren 1917 i mars. Han bosÃ¤tter sig sedan pÃ¥ Hotel Stora Rosenbad i Stockholm fÃ¶r att skriva, mÃ¥la och komponera, och han publicerar visan Resa till Spanien i tidningen â€SÃ¶ndags-Nisseâ€ vilket leder till arbete som journalist. Han bodde dÃ¤refter ett tag i Norge.

VÃ¤stkusten, vintern 1917

Undern vintern 1917 gick Taube med som frivillig rorgÃ¤ngare pÃ¥ en torpedbÃ¥t frÃ¥n Lysekil.

BohuslÃ¤n och debuter 1917-1918

NÃ¤sta bostad blir pÃ¥ SmÃ¶gen hos Edouard Stranne, dÃ¤r han skriver fÃ¶r tidningar, och den 1 februari 1918 sjÃ¶ng han till gitarr pÃ¥ Godtemplarlogen pÃ¥ SmÃ¶gen, med egna visorna Karl-Alfred och Ellinor, Allt uti blÃ¥a klÃ¤der och Resa till Spanien och andras. Samma Ã¥r ger han ut sin fÃ¶rsta bok, Inte precis om kvinnorna med 17 berÃ¤ttelser. och flyttar till Stockholm igen.

Stockholm, framgÃ¥ng, sjukdom och Byssan Lull

Evert upplever ett fattigt Stockholm under krigets sista mÃ¥nader 1919, men efter krigsslutet debuterar han pÃ¥ restaurant Gillet i Stockholm med Karl-Alfred och Ellinor med stor framgÃ¥ng, han upptrÃ¤der pÃ¥ Cabaret LÃ¤derlappen, men drabbas plÃ¶tsligt av Spanska sjukan och lÃ¤ggs in pÃ¥ sjukhus. Under vÃ¥ren seglar med sin vÃ¤n Kurt Ljungstedt till Skagen och skriver dÃ¤r Sju sjÃ¶mansvisor och Byssan Lull illusterad av Ljungstedt, vilken blir en succe.

1920: Paris, San Remo och Astri Bergman, Margita AlfvÃ©n och jul i Dalarna

1920 reser Evert med sin syster till Paris, och dÃ¤r trÃ¤ffar han Astri Bergman, som fÃ¶ljer med honom till San Remo.

KÃ¤rleken spirar och de fÃ¶rlovar sig i Florens, vilket Astris far fÃ¶ga uppskattade, eftersom hon var fÃ¶rlovad och hon kallas hem till sverige.

De ses inte under fyra Ã¥r, och Evert Ã¤r en tid fÃ¶rlovad med Margita AlfvÃ©n, tonsÃ¤ttaren Hugo AlfvÃ©ns dotter, och Evert tycks ha tillbringat julen 1920 med familjen pÃ¥ AlfvÃ©ngÃ¥rden pÃ¥ Digerberget i TÃ¤llberg, Dalarna.

I januari 1921 sjÃ¶ng taube in Karl Alfred och Fritiof Andersson fÃ¶r Concert record grammophone, och samma Ã¥r elva His Masters Voice.

Evert instiftar 1924 sÃ¤llskapet Pax Aurea pÃ¥ Den Gyldene Freden. Via Den Gylden Freden trÃ¤ffade han ibland Astris far Herman Bergman. Efter att Evert lÃ¤rt kÃ¤nna fadern bÃ¤ttre, utgett fler bÃ¶cker och vissamlingar, samt sjungit in visor pÃ¥ grammofon fÃ¥r han sin Astri.

Evert Taube gjorde sig kÃ¤nd bÃ¥de som miljÃ¶vÃ¤n och humanist. Han deltog aktivt i att rÃ¤dda bÃ¥de Mosebacke, VindelÃ¤lven, och Taubehuset i GÃ¶teborg.

Citat frÃ¥n minnesartikel i Expressen i mars 1976:
Jo, nog sympatiserar jag med socialisterna pÃ¥ sÃ¤tt och vis. Ni fÃ¶rstÃ¥r att socialt och genom min slÃ¤kt tillhÃ¶r jag hÃ¶gern, till intellektet Ã¤r jag folkpartist, men till mitt temperament Ã¤r jag socialdemokrat â€“ det Ã¤r jag!

Evert Taube gick bort den 31 januari 1976 och jordfÃ¤stes den 16 februari. Medlemmar ur Flottans MÃ¤n bildade tillsammans med sjÃ¶vÃ¤rnsaspiranter hedersvakt vid kistan. Sven Bertil Taube, som Ã¶nskat vÃ¥r nÃ¤rvaro vid begravningsakten, skrev dÃ¤refter och tackade â€â€¦ fÃ¶r den insats ni gjorde fÃ¶r att skÃ¤nka Evert en sista hyllning och samtidigt ge ceremonien en inramning som i enkelhet och stram vÃ¤rdighet var precis sÃ¥dan, som Evert ville ha den (www.flottansman.se)
